Real-money Apps
Poker is a stakes game that’s inherently linked to playing with real money. Whether it’s a high-stakes game or you’re playing with pennies, it’s still money. There are quite a few apps in which you can play with – and win or lose – real money. Some of the more popular apps include PokerStars and 888Poker, which are available for both Android and iOS devices. Both apps allow you to play multiplayer online with friends and relatives. Just make sure that everyone playing is aware that we’re dealing with real money here.
Free-to-Play Apps
Just like with poker games you can host at your own home, it’s not necessary to play with real money. Free-to-play apps are especially useful for those who aren’t interested in gambling with their real-life earnings, or maybe they’re new to poker and want to practice first. Poker.org states that some of the best apps in this category are Zynga Poker, PlayWPT, and Texas Hold’em Poker Pokerist. Poker Games On Steam
There is no shortage of multiplayer poker games on Steam, the online game platform. One of the most popular, probably since it’s free to play, is Prominence Poker. It’s also available on consoles. Another popular poker game on Steam is PokerStars VR. Also a free-to-play game, it does require a VR setup in order to play, so it may not be the best option for multiplayer gaming if not everyone has a VR headset.
Poker Over Zoom
Last year, Zoom launched Zoom Apps. As FastCompany.com explains, there are quite a few apps that can make your Zoom calls even better, especially if you’re working remotely. Not all the apps are for work, however.
For friends and relatives that would rather not play poker with an app on their phone, it’s possible to set up a Zoom session and play the game with everyone connected. The most popular one seems to be AceTime Poker by LGN. We’d also like to mention that there’s a version called “Zoom Poker” from PokerStars, which is not the same as playing on Zoom, the video conference app. In order to play poker on Zoom, look for the app you’d like to play from the “Apps” tab on Zoom itself. Then you can start a game and have up to 10 players at the same time.
If you’re not able to play face-to-face yet, or you have a loved one who’s self-isolating, playing poker online is a great way to socialize with everyone and still have a great time.
